Do-it-yourself Hanukkah Gift Basket
If you're seeking a great gift for a special someone this Hanukkah,
why not try making your own gift basket? Gift baskets are widely
popular, and there are many companies out there that offer beautiful
gift baskets for all sorts of occasions, including Hanukkah. However,
rather than spending a fortune on a basket made by someone else, why
not do it yourself?
By making your own Hanukkah gift basket, you'll not only save money,
you'll be presenting someone with a gift that you created with your
own two hands. They'll certainly appreciate the personal thought and
effort that went into your handmade gift basket!
The first thing you'll need for this project, of course, is a basket.
It's important to get the right size basket. You'll need one that's
large enough to hold everything, but not too large that it looks empty
when filled. It's important that the basket looks full to the brim!
After choosing the perfect basket, you'll need a filler like confetti
or shredded paper. Try choosing basket filler in the traditional
Hanukkah colors which are blue, white and silver.
Next, it's time to fill your basket! Try loading it with an assortment
of kosher foods. You can go with a certain theme, like chocolate,
cheese, or coffee. You can never go wrong with a good assortment,
however. Try items like smoked salmon, cookies, crackers, gourmet tea,
jams and jellies, dried fruit, and nuts.
If a food themed basket isn't your thing, then try filling the basket
with items that you know the recipient will love. For a teen girl, how
about a basket filled with luxurious bath products like shower gel,
bubble bath, a loofah in blue, white or silver, and even Hanukkah
colored nail polishes!
For a great children's basket, how about filling it with inexpensive
items that kids love. Some ideas are: candy, coloring books and
crayons, bubbles, dreidels, and small stuffed animals.
One cute idea is to make a Hanukkah gift basket for your pooch! Fill
it with items like squeak toys embellished with the Star of David, a
Hanukkah patterned doggie sweater, and lots of yummy treats. You can
even bake your own dog biscuits and use a cookie cutter to make them
in the shape of the Star of David!
Any good gift basket needs some finishing touches! Wrap the basket in
clear cellophane, or go with blue for a little more color. Embellish
the basket with bows and ribbons in traditional Hanukkah colors. With
a little creative thought, you can put together the perfect gift
basket that anyone would love to receive this Hanukkah!
