Hanukkah Dreidel
This fun and easy crafts is perfect for kids, and when they have
finished making their own dreidels they still have hours of fun ahead
of them playing the game.
What
you will need:
1. Dark blue cardstock
2. Silver cardstock
3. Black permanent marker
4. Paper cutter
5. Glue
Directions:
1. Begin by cutting the dark blue cardstock into a 5x5 inch square.
2. Cut the silver cardstock into two 2 ½ x 2 ½ inch squares.
3. Glue the silver squares onto the blue square so that it creates a
checkerboard pattern.
4. Allow the glue to dry.
5. With adult help draw on the four symbols for the dreidel using the
permanent marker.
6. Push a flower pick, or a small sharpened pencil through the center
of the dreidel.
How to play the game:
1. Each player should be given 15 game pieces. The game pieces can be
any small objects such as pennies, small candies, buttons etc.
2. To start a round, each player puts one game piece in the center
pot. Each time the pot is empty or has only one game piece each player
is required to put another piece in the pot.
3. To take a turn a player spins the dreidel once. Depending on which
side lands up you get to give or take pieces from the pot (see chart
below).
4. If a player has not pieces left they are either out or can ask for
a loan from another player.
5. When one person has won everything, they are named the winner and
the round is over.
